Telegael (Ireland), Discreet Art (India) and Areavisual/La Mar Media (Colombia) sign agreement to co-produce 52 x 7-minute animated pre-school series Ana The Pirate at MipCom 2016.
Ana The Pirate tells the story of a young girl who becomes an intrepid pirate when her magic bathtub turns into a pirate ship. On the open sea, Ana the Pirate and Cua-Cua, her loyal and comical rubber duck, live out fantastic adventures, taking decisions, working as a team and resolving issues through conflict resolution strategies. In each episode Ana The Pirate will demonstrate that we can all be brave inside and be able to face unimagined fearful risks and dangers. The series aims to challenge gender stereotypes, empower women and promote pro-social behaviour.
The partnership, facilitated by Kreiworks Australia, is the first co-production between the three companies. A short pilot series of Ana The Pirate, which was created in Colombia, currently airs in Spanish language on Discovery Kids Latin America. The new full-length CGI animated series will be produced initially in English, Spanish and Irish and distributed globally. Ana Pirata was selected as a finalist at the Prix Jeunesse International 2016, which also nominated the program to the Gender Equity prize.
Ana The Pirate / Ana Pirata is expected to reach our screens in 2018.
