Paper Panther’s Super Hog wins in Spain


Irish animation company Paper Panther Productions has won at the International Youth Film Festival, Plasencia Encorto, in Spain. Their workshop project Super Hog took home the Award for Environment and Sustainable Development.

Super Hog was made under the supervision of Paper Panther’s Eimhin McNamara, and tells the story of a mild mannered hedgeho, who is transformed by pollution into Super Hog, and puts his unreal powers to good use! The short was created during the PURE Project’s PURE Wicked Animation Filmschool 2012 in Tinahely, Co. Wicklow, by Jack Gaffney, Aysha Griffin, Cerys MacAllister, Jacob Moran-Braswell, Sarah Tallon, Ellen Sadhbh Wilcoxson.

Paper Panther host a number of animation workshops all over Ireland and the UK, using optical toys and stop-motion animation techniques to bring the magic of animation to students aged 1-50+. The next workshop is in Stop Motion animation, with County Wexford Youth Film Project at St Michaels Theatre Centre for the Arts, South St, New Ross on Saturday April 25th.
