#IrishAnimation: Maurice Joyce’s Violet continues its successful international run
Irish animated short film Violet is set to feature at the Tribeca Film Festival (April 13 – 24), following its appearances at the Irish Film Festa in Rome, the Moscow Irish Film Festival, the Boston Irish Film Festival, the Omaha Film Festival, the Cleveland International Film Festival, and Animation Dingle.
Violet is the cautionary tale of a young girl who despises her reflection. Tired of the abuse, Violet’s reflection decides she’s not going to take it anymore. The film is narrated by Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones).
Director Maurice Joyce began his career at Murakami Wolf Studios, and currently works on the Cartoon SaloonCartoon Saloon is a four-time Academy Award® and BAFTA nominated animation studio formed by Paul Young, Tomm Moore and Nora Twomey in 1999. Violet has just played in US, where it won a Festival Award at the Chicago Irish Film Festival, and was Ireland’s sole short film representative at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, It also picked up the James Horgan Award for Best Animation at the 2015 Galway Film Fleadh.
