Kilkenny based animation studio Cartoon Saloon, best known as the gifted animators behind Oscar nominated feature films The Secret of Kells and Song of the Sea, have released a pitch trailer for a new TV series that they have been working on titled Ellie the Ace.

Ellie the Ace is the story of a ten year old girl who just so happens to be a daredevil explorer and ace pilot. She lives on the floating islands of Lockhart, located high amongst the clouds, where flying is part of everyday life. An outgoing and optimistic girls, she is always on the lookout for adventure and eager to make new friends…

The series is the creation of Louise Bagnall, best known her short films Donkey and Loose Ends, who created the trailer for last September’s TV series co-production conference Cartoon Forum.

According to leading animation website Cartoon Brew, both Disney and Irish broadcaster RTÉ have expressed interest in the series, which is budgeted at €4.5 million. The idea is that the series will serve multiple platforms including TV, mobile, tablet, and Internet.
