Irish Animation: Stars turn out for launch of Boulder Media’s Dangerous Mouse
A host of stars including Olympian Dame Kelly Holmes, actor and presenter Denise Van Outen, actor Matthew Lewis (Harry Potter) and actor Meera Syal, and Sharon Small and Annabelle Davis and TV presenter Kate Garraway stepped into the world of international espionage today to celebrate the launch of the brand new animated comedy adventures of the world’s greatest secret agent Danger Mouse.

The celebrities and their families joined cast members Alexander Armstrong (Danger Mouse), Kevin Eldon (Penfold), Dave Lamb (The Narrator), Morwenna Banks (The Queen Pink Dawn), Richard Osman (Professor Strontium Jellyfishowitz), Ed Gaughan (Baron Greenback) and Shauna MacDonald (Professor Squawkencluck) Rasmus Hardiker (Count Duckula) for a highly-classified preview of the opening double length episode of the eagerly awaited series, which is due to premiere on CBBC on Monday September 28th, the 34th anniversary of the original series launch.
During the event hosted by Controller CBBC Cheryl Taylor and Rick Glankler, EVP/General Manager FremantleMedia Kids & Family Entertainment, and presented by Officially Amazing front man Ben Shires, it was revealed that Richard Ayoade (The IT Crowd), Brian Blessed (Flash Gordon) and Miranda Richardson (Mapp and Lucia, Harry Potter) are joining the multi-talented voice cast. Brian will be lending his booming tones to the role of Santa – this will be the fourth time in his career that he has voiced the role. He will be joined by Richard Ayoade who is voicing new frosty villain The Snowman who appears in three episodes, whilst Miranda plays menacing, magical monarch the Queen of Weevils.

Licensed to thrill a whole new generation of fans, Danger Mouse’s mission is to protect the world, multiple parallel universes and Willesden Green from the villainous machinations of the evil Baron Greenback. At his side is his ever faithful but always fearful sidekick Penfold. Together our two best friends take on all manner of mind-blowing missions aided, abetted and aggravated by a menagerie of old and new allies and adversaries and all manner of tech-defying gadgets.
Other voice cast members include star of TV and film Stephen Fry as Colonel K, Game of Thrones actress Lena Headey as Jeopardy Mouse and US Talk Show host John Oliver as Dr Augustus P Crumhorn III.
